VICE PRESIDENT
Ed Reed is an accomplished professional with more than a decade of experience in state government, campaign management and nonprofit leadership. His first experience with the Virginia General Assembly was as a legislative assistant in the House of Delegates. He later served as chief of staff for a member of the Senate Commerce and Labor and Senate Finance committees, where he managed a robust and progressive legislative agenda focused on health care, higher education, and economic development.
Ed also served as political director for a successful statewide campaign and later as transition director, where he played a key role in establishing the new administration. Following the transition, he was appointed deputy chief of staff and subsequently chief of staff to the lieutenant governor. In that role, he acted as liaison to the governor’s Cabinet, coordinated outreach to other legislative and judicial branch agencies, and advised on legislative strategy. He also has extensive experience advising local, state and federal political campaigns across the Commonwealth.
In addition to his work in Virginia, Ed also served as a legislative liaison during the 2017 Georgia General Assembly session for a national government affairs firm. Most recently, Ed served as Program Director for Fair Count, Inc., a national non-profit founded by Stacey Abrams, based in Atlanta.
Ed received his bachelor’s degree in business management from Hampton University, where he was also named Model Student of the Year for his class. In 2016, he completed the Virginia Commonwealth University’s Minority Political Leadership Institute and was inducted into the inaugural class of Hampton University’s Forty Under 40 Society. He currently serves on the board of Virginia21 and the Great Aspirations Scholarship Program (GRASP). A native of Virginia’s Northern Neck, Ed currently resides in Virginia Beach.
